Job Description:
The role ensures effective and safe maintenance of mechanical assets. You will be responsible for the following: Ensure all mechanical machinery within Operations are adequately monitored to prevent failure as a result of maintenance or deterioration. Manage, review, and communicate proper standards, procedures and codes of practice Manage long- and short-term planning Implement business plans and business strategies Manage and optimise financial expenditure as regards Mechanical equipment Ensure all projects are technically correct regarding mechanical design, operability, optimal functionality, and maintainability Ensure standards and specifications within the mechanical engineering discipline are kept updated and best in class Evaluate new technology and facilitate with the implementation as appropriate Ensure technical excellence at the operations within the mechanical engineering discipline to prevent harm to persons, damage to machinery and equipment Establish systems and/or procedures to monitor mechanical deterioration of assets at Operations. Eliminate repeated mechanical failures through proper failure analysis Assist with the optimization of mechanical reliability and integrity. Strive for technical excellence and facilitate the roll out of best practices at the operations Continuously evaluate mechanical engineering risks and identify mitigating measures to control the risks Implement and ensure adherence to governance relating to the standards, policies and procedures associated with the disciplines Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company's strategic inten. This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Resident Engineer.
Qualifications: BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered Pr. Eng. Government Certificate of Competency: Mines and Works will be advantageous.
Experience Minimum 10 years' experience in mining production machinery, equipment, and processes. Must be experienced in the functionality of mining machinery and equipment. Must be familiar with the roles various stakeholders hold and the interaction and dynamics associated with each. Solid analytical and technical abilities are required. In depth understanding of asset integrity management, with a proven track record in achieving asset reliability and lifecycle targets. Conversant with the requirement of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
