We are currently recruiting a dedicated Senior Domestic Supervisor to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in Healthcare on a part-time basis, contracted to 32 hours per week. Your key responsibilities may include:
Investigating any audit failures and ensuring appropriate actions are taken for resolution.
Collating information to evidence corrective actions for Trust monitoring audit.
Completing rotas and other necessary paperwork to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
First point of contact for Supervisory team queries and to provide support when required.
Monitoring Supervisory team performance particularly in relation to audits.
Completing probationary reviews for all new starters.
Being proactive as opposed to reactive in terms of fulfilling the contractual requirements.
Ensuring all new starters are trained to the correct standards.
Ensuring sickness is being managed effectively in conjunction with Compass Group and client policy.
Inspecting, recording, monitoring and, if required, taking action to ensure that the high standards are maintained, complying with Health & Safety and Regulations, and providing feedback to the Domestic Manager.
Ensuring your whole team reports for duty in good time, clean and tidy, and wearing the correct maintained uniform.
Maintaining a high standard of personal grooming throughout your entire shift, leading by example.
Ensuring that all duties are carried out in line with required standards.
Developing and maintaining a customer/patient-focused team; who are highly motivated and professional.
Ensuring that customer/patient complaints are promptly dealt with, and action is taken to prevent reoccurrence.
Ensuring that equipment is used safely and in accordance with current regulations and company policies.
Reporting any accidents or near misses to your manager and completing the necessary accident reporting process for Compass Group and client.
Complying with all Health & Safety legislation which is laid out in the company's Health & Safety Manual (COSHH procedures in the selection, use and recovery of cleaning chemicals and manual handling etc.).
Ensuring hygiene levels are maintained in accordance with current legislation and provide a safe environment for customers and staff.
Training and developing your team as required by the company and legislation, to include Induction into the Domestic Department, Fire, Health, Hygiene, Safety and Skills training, and to check that members of your team are aware of these requirements and are working in accordance with them.
Developing good lines of communication and relationships at all levels within your team and with other colleagues and customers.
Performing any reasonable and practical instructions as requested by the Domestic Manager appropriate to the needs of the Hospital.
Being able to use computer systems when required e.g. V-Nexus, Ourtime and the Hiring Hub and other systems when required.
Supporting other departments managed by Medirest when requested by management.
Your attention is drawn to the confidentiality aspects of the post. Breaches of confidence will result in disciplinary action, which may involve dismissal. You should also be aware that regardless of any action by the employing Trust (client), breaches of confidence could result in civil action for damages.
Our ideal Senior Domestic Supervisor will:
Possess good communication skills in order to liaise with a range of staff, internal and external customers and to provide and receive information on a range of issues, some of which require independent judgement.
Have the ability to explain technical issues to staff, to assess staff training requirements and to provide advice, instruction and training.
Possess knowledge of cleaning techniques through experience and training.
Possess good team leadership/supervisory skills and an understanding of the different roles and skills of team members.
Have the ability to organise the day-to-day work of the Domestic services team and adjust as necessary for unplanned absences.
Have the ability to make judgements and decisions using own initiative, which may be critical to the effective delivery of services.
Have the ability to plan and organise own work, including working to agreed targets and objectives and in unpredictable situations where demands are service-led.
Have an understanding of Health and Safety at work in order to make judgements on compliance and resolve any issues, including a good understanding of Manual Handling and Infection Control issues.
