Your opportunity:

The Advancement team generates private-sector revenue to support the Faculty and its academic priorities. Through a range of programs and special initiatives, we raise awareness among current and prospective donors and volunteers regarding the importance of investing in the Faculty. Our office engages in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, including our accomplished alumni who are located in more than 190 countries.

The Advancement Office at the Faculty of Arts & Science play a critical role in achieving the future success of the Faculty. We are responsible for generating private-sector revenue to support the Faculty and all of its strategic priorities. Our department cultivates and sustains strong relationships with donors, alumni and other stakeholders.

The Senior Development Officer (SDO), Major Gifts will be partof a team working under the direction of the Associate Director of Development, and will be tasked with the responsibility of identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors to the Faculty of Arts & Science at the Major Gift level ($50,000 - $4M). The incumbent will develop customized proposals and tailored initiatives designed to increase the interest and involvement of donors. Duties will include: meeting with donors to identify, cultivate and solicit for support and interest in the Faculty of Arts & Science; ensuring proper stewardships of major gifts; preparing call reports, proposals, progress reports and prospect correspondence; collaborating with other members of the University's Advancement community to develop and execute strategies, and realize goals.

Your responsibilities will include: Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognitionDeveloping tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiativesIdentifying, evaluating and recommending the necessary steps to bring the prospect closer to making a major financial commitment to the UniversityConducting advanced research and analysis from a variety of sources to provide detailed background data on donorsDeveloping and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activitiesWriting briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interactionEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum five years experience in a senior staff fundraising role with a proven track record of successDemonstrated experience with development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognitionDemonstrated understanding of the Faculty of Arts and Science and the University of TorontoExperience researching and analysing from a variety of sources to provide detailed background data on donorsWell-developed project management, liaison and relationship management experienceDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, results oriented team environmentStrong computer skills including word processing, database software and spread sheet programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, ARBOR)Excellent writing skills in preparing briefing notes, solicitation plans and donor reportsExceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills To be successful in this role you will be: Closing Date: 08/07/2024, 11:59PM ET
