We want everyone in the business to be able to make best-in-class data-driven decisions that support our growth. We're pragmatic and open-minded about introducing new tools that will drive efficiencies and look to simplify processes and prioritize automation to enable the business to quickly adapt to changing needs.
Some of your daily responsibilities will include the following:Design, implement and maintain (monitoring, alerting, incident resolution) a Data Warehouse.Administer tools and systems (security, access control, performance).Help Software Engineering Teams understand how the features they release perform over time.Help the BI team in their journey to promote self-service datasets for key business areas.Automation through Infrastructure As Code and scripting.Data quality and consistency, data standardization, documentation, and user onboarding.Ingestion of new data sources to our data warehouse.Here are some of the tools and technologies you will use:Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Tableau, Airflow, Python, AWS Services (Fargate, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, Cloudwatch, to name a few), Terraform, CircleCI, Github, Docker, Datadog, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Suite.Skills and experience we think you'll need to be successful in the role:Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and query optimization.Experience running Data Platforms to support Production workloads.Adequate coding skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.Designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.Understanding of data modeling, normalization, and schema design.Strong understanding of Git.Experience working with Cloud Platforms (AWS preferred but not mandatory).Understands Infrastructure As Code (Terraform preferred but not mandatory).Experience of Data Security best practices and Data Privacy laws.Perks of the job:A salary that reflects your value.Take a Break: 20 days of holiday plus public holidays and Christmas Eve on us.Keeping you healthy: ZAR1,000 per month towards medical aid with Momentum or Discovery.Prepare for the future: Pension Fund with 5% employee and 5% employer contributions.Travel: We've got your evening commute covered, car park space if you drive and showers and towels if you cycle.Keeping you refreshed: Enjoy an in-house barista and free fruit every day.Social Scene: Thursday and Friday drinks, and regular social activities.Celebrating Success: 1/4 performance awards with prizes and an annual performance awards - last year's winner enjoyed a 4-day all expenses paid trip to the French Alps!Skills Booster: Opportunity to join a disruptive Technology Leader and be part of a fast-growing, innovative company reshaping the industry. Working Patterns We are extremely proud of our culture and believe in the many benefits that being in the office provides - all our roles require regular time in our office in the central business district in Cape Town. We do not offer fully remote roles but we support hybrid working wherever possible (3 days in office, 2 days from home). However, to meet the needs of our customers and business operations many of our Operational and Commercial roles are fully office based.
