Main Purpose of the Job: The Senior Creditors Clerk will be responsible for managing all creditors functions, including processing payments within the finance team. This role involves exposure to accounting and finance reporting for the organization and its subsidiaries. The incumbent will leverage prior experience to guide the team, sharing knowledge of the business and the creditors function to improve operational efficiency. Key Areas of Responsibility: Ensure timely processing of creditor invoices to facilitate on-time payments to vendors and stakeholders. Reconcile invoices with supplier statements and follow up promptly on any discrepancies or issues. Prepare creditor reconciliations for payments and assist in finalizing the payments process. Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy. Prepare monthly cashbook entries. Reconcile debit card transactions on a weekly basis. Prepare and reconcile accounting journals as required. Meet month-end close requirements, ensuring that creditors' month-end deadlines align with overall group finance deadlines. Drive reconciliation of clearing accounts on a monthly basis. Guide the team in optimizing processes, minimizing errors, and improving the efficiency of the creditors' processes. Participate in self-development by attending relevant training and development programs when necessary. Deliver efficient and optimized performance in your role. Provide assistance to divisions with any queries they may have. Assist auditors during interim and year-end audits by providing required information and resolving queries. Ensure compliance with group and accounting policies. Address and resolve queries or ad-hoc requests as assigned by management. Key Competencies/Skills: Diploma in Accounting with relevant operational finance experience. Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role. Experience with financial and accounting software applications (Great Plains experience is a plus). Proficient in working with payment platforms. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF). Solid bookkeeping knowledge with excellent reconciliation skills. High level of integrity and honesty in handling financial matters. Strong work ethic with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Accuracy and consistency in delivering work. Ability to multi-task effectively.
