SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL, MARSH AFRICA REGIONWhat you can expect: Providing legal insights, advice and thought leadership to all stakeholders.Providing specialised legal advice to business areas on all complex, internal and commercial, contractual legal matters relating to business products with the intention of enabling the maximisation of revenue streams in accordance with regulatory requirements.To assist in the identification of and preparation for forthcoming changes in law and regulation across the Region.Provide legal support to the wider business across IMEA as required.Engage regulators across the region as required.We will rely on you to: Providing assistance and advice to the business in relation to the legal aspects of handling allegations of errors and omissions (E&Os) and other disputes with third parties and assisting in the development and provision of E&O awareness training.Assisting in the development and implementation of E&O preventative and mitigation steps for the Region.Reviewing of the range of commercial contracts required by the business and the development of template contracts for use within the region.Providing independent counsel to local management and escalate key concerns within Marsh Legal as appropriate.Consulting with stakeholder to understand business requirements and providing expert insight, guidance and novel solutions pertaining to the drafting, vetting, reviewing, dissemination and/or negotiation of documentation and processes of a complex and often ambiguous nature and provide clear and accurate legal opinions based on sound judgment and thought leadership.Understanding changes in legislation and regulations and how to apply same to ensure that business products and process remain complaint.Assisting with the development of internal controls, policies and guidelines in accordance with regulations to ensure compliance thereof.Ensuring compliance with Data Privacy legislation across the region.What you need to have: LLBAdmitted attorney in South AfricaStrong academic backgroundAt least 5-7 years experience as in-house counsel preferably within financial servicesExperience in drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and in handling commercial disputesEmployment Equity (EE) candidates preferredCompetencies/Skills: IntegrityAbility to work in a teamAbility to work under pressureIndependent thinkingProblem AnalysisSound JudgementAccuracy and clarity of draftingCommunication SkillsOrganising and DeliveryCultural SensitivityDisciplineMarsh McLennan is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and flexible work environment.
