Location: DurbanEmployment Type: Fixed term, Shift Work (12-hour shifts, rotation schedule)Role OverviewMy Client seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Control Room Operator to manage control room operations in a 24/7 environment.
This role requires the candidate to oversee real-time vehicle and responder dispatch, ensure effective client communication, and maintain operational efficiency.
The operator will also handle administrative tasks and lead the control room team.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Interaction:Handle incoming calls and manage customer inquiries professionally.Open and manage WhatsApp groups for incident coordination.Address and resolve customer queries and complaints promptly, providing updates on outcomes.Dispatch and Monitoring:Dispatch responders effectively and monitor vehicle movements in real time.Ensure Journey Management Plans (JMPs) are prepared and followed.Documentation and Reporting:Accurately capture vehicle movements, fuel usage, and resource utilization data.Compile detailed reports, ensuring all documents are completed and submitted within deadlines.Control Room Operations:Conduct system checks to ensure communication tools (telephones, radios, tracking systems) are operational.Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to sanitation protocols.Team Leadership:Provide on-the-job training for new staff, encouraging professional development.Ensure a seamless shift handover with all necessary information communicated clearly.Qualifications and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics or operations are advantageous.- Proven experience in a similar control room environment, with logistics experience preferred.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and SharePoint).- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Working ConditionsShifts: 12-hour shifts on a rotation schedule, covering both day and night shifts.Environment: Office-based in Durban.
