Construction Management Unit – Contracts Manager:Senior contracts manager>15 years of relevant experience in engineering projectsPredominantly office based – Gauteng (Centurion)Jones & Wagener is seeking to employ a self-motivated senior contracts manager to join our team. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team in a senior level position within a well-established consulting firm.
The role of the contracts manager will be to manage construction contracts as well as the RE/QA team on site. He/she will work closely with the design engineer to ensure that the design is constructed as intended, he/she will be responsible to attend and chair the progress meetings, review the minutes before they are distributed and will attend regular site visits to ensure the necessary QA procedures are followed, he/she will review, comment and approve the contractor's works programme and review and comment on the contractor's progress against the approved programme so he/she must have a good understanding of production rates and scheduling of civil construction works. He/she will do the determination on claims where J&W is appointed as the Engineer or Employer's Agent and he/she will provide input to the Project Manager (NEC CONTRACTS) in evaluations of CE's and other claims.
Preference to candidates with the following skills and attributes: Dynamic, self-motivated, takes responsibility and ownership of tasks.Solid organization, time-management skills, and diligence.Works independently.The requirements associated with the position are as follows: >15 years of relevant experience in engineering projects.BEng (Civil) or BTech (Civil).Professional registration (PrEng or PrTechEng).Experience in construction contract management with a good understanding of GCC, FIDIC and NEC.Experience in civil construction quality assurance.Proficient in MS Office.The main duties associated with the position include the following: Previous on-site quality assurance experience.Proficiency in MS Project (or other scheduling software) will be considered advantageous.Project controls experience will be considered advantageous.Dynamic, self-motivated, takes responsibility and ownership of tasks.Solid organization, time-management skills, and attention to detail.Works independently.Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.The main duties associated with the position include the following: Contract management of construction projects.Managing the resident engineer / QA team on site.Conduct site visits to monitor construction quality.Attend and chair construction progress meetings.Ensure the project quality assurance is conducted as required by the design and / or company standards.BOQ and tender document review.Review cost estimates.Preparation / review of tender documents and contracts.Interfacing with clients and contractorsTerms of Employment:
