About us:
Education, Awareness and Culture (EAC) is an integral part of the ITS division. The team provides communication advice, planning, execution and support to the office of the Chief Information Officer as well as other units within the ITS portfolio. Additionally, EAC is responsible for key messaging and the development and execution of events, plans and strategies (including the IT@UofT Strategic Plan). We develop communications and marketing campaigns to help successfully deliver the business objectives of ITS.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of EAC the Senior Communications Officer is responsible for day-to-day marketing and communication activities pertaining to all major system projects and initiatives within Information Technology Services (ITS) portfolio. As the resource on communications matters, consults and collaborates with internal clients (e.g., ITS managers, IT Directors, system stakeholders) on ITS intended to successfully roll-out large complex projects to stakeholders (student, faculty and staff) in support of the broad reaching ITS portfolio.
The position develops, directs and provides guidance on the department's communication strategies, implementation and success; as a communications resource provides consultation to internal stakeholders, develops original compelling content for project initiatives, as well as expertly synthesizing this content for senior management. In collaboration with the Manager, leads the development and strategy implementation of original content creation for the department's internal and external communications, including but not limited to department websites / blogs, newsletters, annual reports, cost benefit reports, project roll-out plans, project dashboards, listservs, customer satisfaction surveys, etc.
Your responsibilities will include: Developing and implementing marketing plans to promote programs, events and/or initiatives that support strategic objectivesFostering relationships with internal and external contacts in the coordination of marketing activitiesBuilding and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importanceDesigning surveys to support the evaluation of strategies and objectivesDelivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiativesProducing promotional and outreach materialsImplementing marketing project plansConsulting with clients regarding the development of project scope and resourcesEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum five years in the following:Experience developing and executing strategic communication plansExperience with promotional rollout plan development and executionExperience and understanding of IT Projects and SystemsExperience writing for a websiteStrong editing and proofreading abilitiesExcellent writing skillsDiplomacy and political acuityProven relationship building skills and strong ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationsStellar event planning and managementProficient with social media and digital platformsAssets (Nonessential): Graphic and web designTo be successful in this role you will be: AccountableAchievement orientedApproachableDiplomaticOrganizedProactiveTeam playerNOTE: This is a 15-month term position
