ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Senior Comms and Creative Manager will oversee the marketing strategy, public relations, brand management, and creative initiatives for ONE in Africa. They will work closely with ONE's global communications and brand teams and ONE Africa teams across the continent to ensure a clear narrative on Africa Agency is communicated most accurately and compellingly through media platforms that inform and engage policymakers, citizens, and ONE target audiences.
This role reports to the Africa Executive Director and must be bilingual in French and English. The role can be based in any of the ONE Africa offices – Dakar, South Africa, Nairobi, Abuja, with frequent regional and some international travel.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: Marketing Strategy, PR and Communication Strategy Develop and execute campaign messaging to reach target audiences and achieve organisation's goals. Build and maintain relationships with African media outlets (especially Francophone media), expand reach for ONE's campaign messaging and handle media inquiries. Oversee brand presences in Africa as an organisation working for a more just world, and support social media, content, and digital campaigns. Manage external communications products for the region. Develop and implement strategies, in partnership with ONE's Strategic Communications team, to tell the story of ONE in Africa and to amplify Africa agency globally. Regularly monitor and analyse media coverage of relevant issues across the continent and identify trends and opportunities for ONE. Contribute to the preparation of briefings for ONE's senior staff/high profile advocates in their interactions with leaders in government and civil society. Develop regular media reports to track trends and results Partnerships Identify potential partners that align with the organisation's strategic aspirations. Initiate and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in partner organizations and maintain ongoing communication to nurture and strengthen partnerships. Staying informed about marketing trends and potential opportunities for partnerships. Lead the Africa team in defining its approach to partnering media related-csos and organizations and provide oversight to partnership formation processes Brand and Creative Direction Collaborate with the global creative team to produce campaigns materials and other content that aligns with the vision and strategy. Focuses specifically on the management and development of brand positioning on the Continent. Leads the Africa creative team in developing visual and design aspects of campaigns. Coordinates with the global Brand + Creative team to leverage opportunities and build out ONE's brand and help ensure representation in global creative products. Campaigning The role will collaborate with the policy and advocacy teams to design, implement and evaluate ONE in Africa communication campaigns. Collaborate with the creative, campaigns and digital leads in the design and implementation of communications and campaigns strategies. Lead on building a narrative on Africa's Agency through ONE's campaigning within Africa and globally. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU A bachelor's degree in media, Communications, Marketing, Digital Campaigning or related field. 8-10 years' experience working in Francophone countries, ideally within a marketing, international development, communications or media role. Proven track record of delivering effective marketing campaigns, such as creating and shifting narrative media and communications strategies for advocacy purposes with elite and popular media and specialist and non-specialist audiences. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to turn complex policy information into accessible products. Strong interpersonal skills with experience of influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong partnerships. A commitment to ONE's aims and a clear understanding of the links between policy, lobbying, campaigning and media work. Experience in managing people. Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment, across times zones, with the flexibility to respond to a fast-changing work environment and shifting deadlines. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Fluent English and French is essential. Familiarity with other languages of the AU desirable.
