Senior Claims Technician (Marine)

Full support to Claims team, from loading of claims, appointment of surveyors, adjusting claims and preparing agreements of loss, estimate revision, drafting of repudiation letters, managing your own diary, appointment of recovery agents and supporting the Claims Manager with ad-hoc reporting and duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements Grade 12FAIS – Completed Regulatory Examination (Representatives, RE 5) and working towards full qualification or the holder of a full insurance qualification (minimum NQF Level 4 120 credits)At least 5 years Marine claims exposureKnowledge of the South African Marine Insurance marketSound knowledge of statutory and legislative requirementsSound knowledge and understanding of underwriting principles, commercial and financial principles i.e. application of VAT on claimsMS Office suite operating knowledge is essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for capturing claims and loading paymentsApproving claims where required (first level approver)Preparing Agreements of Loss (within mandate, and drafting AoL's above mandate where the claim sits within your portfolio)Appointing of surveyors (within mandate, above mandate appointments to be under the direction of the Claims Manager)Diarizing matters that need to be followed up and perform any other duties that may be assignedHandling broker queries and complaints, involve management where necessaryDeveloping and maintain exemplary broker service relationshipsGeneral correspondence with broker via e-mail or telephoneAppointment of recovery agents, under the direction of the Claims Manager Accuracy and high attention to detailGood planning and organising skillsAbility to work well under pressureAbility to multi-taskAbility to work both independently and as part of a team#J-18808-Ljbffr
