Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.
Hatch is seeking a Senior Civil Engineerto join our Earth Sciences and Engineering Division, to be based in our office in Greenstone Hill, Johannesburg.
The main focus of the role will be to produce engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports for both front-end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multi-disciplinary projects.
The Senior Civil Engineer also provides leadership and assists in the resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline. You would alsoparticipate in a wide range of projects that may cover earthworks, road and rail design and associated bridges, airstrips, villages, marine terminals, residential and commercial developments, schools, utilities including pump stations, dams, drainage for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects. The role may include supervising a team of civil, hydrotechnical and geotechnical engineers, designers and draftpersons.
Key responsibilities of this role include: Delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost, and schedule. Prepare engineering calculations and technical specificationsPrepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications, and design criteriaReview and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers and designersPerform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs and 3D modelsParticipate in and contribute to design reviewsDevelop and maintain the project scope of work documentationProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimatesPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertiseEnsuringco-ordination with designers and engineers within the civil discipline and with other disciplines. Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards and the ability to function with minimal supervision.You bring to the role: A recognized civil engineering degree from an accredited university with 10+ years civil design experienceRegistered Professional Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South AfricaWorking knowledge of AutoDesk and Bentley products, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D, Infraworks, Microstation, ProjectwisePrevious experience in completing civil infrastructure design assignments, including earthworks, stormwater management, road design and wastewater collection systems preferably for large mining and infrastructure projects while working within a multi-disciplinary environment will be advantageous.Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsDon't meet every single requirement?
