DATE OF DISTRIBUTION: 09.09.2024 CLOSING DATE: 18.09.2024 DEPARTMENT / DOMAIN: PMR PRODUCTION DOMAIN: PML METAL ACCT. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manage a section to assist production and ensure quality is maintained and customers (internal and external) are satisfied.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: NQF Level 7 with majors in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry essential.NQF Level 8 in Chemistry will be a definite advantage.Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in advanced PGM chemistry is essential.Sound experience in the management of laboratory personnel and processes will be a definite advantage.A high level of practical laboratory, instrumentation, and chemical problem-solving experience and skills.Knowledge of company procedures, policies, rules, and production processes.Knowledge of applicable legislation and general chemistry.Strong analytical, technical, leadership, conflict handling, time management, and interpersonal skills required.Must have sound communication, technical, and performance management skills.Must be medically fit for the Platinum Metal Refinery (PMR).DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the effective management of allocated budgets.Maintain and improve acceptable turnaround time on analysis.Ensure that analytical results produced are valid and accurate.Adhere to the ISO quality management system policies and procedures, and SHE standards and comply with OSHA requirements.Effectively manage staff including development and recruitment.Identify new or updated methods of analysis and keep up to date with new technologies.Ensure optimal stock levels of chemicals and materials are maintained and that laboratory equipment is kept at optimal levels.
