Skyworth Green Energy SA is searching for a Senior C & I Site (Solar PV) Design Engineer to design, plan and support the installation of PV power systems.
This role involves designing and developing solar energy systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and collaborating with project managers and contractors for successful project execution. Responsibilities include conducting site assessments, creating detailed PV system designs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.
The successful incumbent will be required to optimize the performance of solar installations, enhance energy production, and contribute to the development of renewable energy infrastructure.
This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering/installation principles, renewable energy technologies, and industry standards, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities Design solar energy systems for commercial and industrial projects. Develop detailed site plans, including layouts for solar panels, inverters, and electrical components. Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies. Analyze data related to solar installation, shading, and site conditions to develop design decisions. Create detailed electrical and structural designs using solar design software. Create and review engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for PV systems. Ensure designs comply with industry regulations and standards, including building codes and electrical codes. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and PV design tools to create and modify system designs. Ensure designs optimize energy production and meet project requirements. Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate PV systems into broader construction projects. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications. Present design proposals and provide technical advice to clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Address and resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the project lifecycle. Supply contract management including compiling scope of work, technical specifications, bill of quantities, tender evaluations, and negotiation with suppliers. Prepare technical reports and documentation. Provide technical support during installation and maintenance. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (non-negotiable).
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in solar & PV design engineering with a strong background in C&I.
Competencies: Proficiency in PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or similar software (must have). Strong understanding of electrical and structural design principles. Extensive knowledge of electrical design principles and proven experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Innovative mindset and a passion for pushing the boundaries of conventional engineering. Stay updated on changes with regulations affecting PV system design and installation. Strong expertise and passion for renewable energy and a demonstrated ability to think creatively within the realm of site solution design. Excellent problem-solving skills.
