Join our client's innovative educational company in Century City, Cape Town.
They are looking for a skilled Senior Bookkeeper to bring expertise, professionalism, and a passion for numbers to their dynamic team.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential  Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in an educational setting Proficiency in accounting software e.g., Xero, Dext, Syft, Sage and Microsoft Office Suite as well as Google Workspace Relevant certifications e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, CPA Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and compliance Ability to analyse financial data and generate insightful reports Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with staff and stakeholders effectively Strong problem-solving abilities to address accounting issues and improve processes Basic duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain and manage accurate financial records for all pre-primary schools within the group, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements Reconcile bank statements and verify discrepancies promptly Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts Process payrolls for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and labour laws Maintain employee records and manage related documentation Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for review by management Assist in the annual budgeting process and monitor expenditure against budget Assist with preparing for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting information Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for process improvements Supervise and provide guidance to junior bookkeeping staff, ensuring they follow best practices and assist in their professional development Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficienc Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations that may impact the organization
