Our company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our finance team in Cape Town, South Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.RequirementsMaintain Financial Records:Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments, in the general ledger.Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using accounting software or spreadsheets.Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.Accounts Payable and Receivable:Process invoices received from vendors and suppliers, verifying accuracy and ensuring timely payment.Prepare and issue invoices to customers, recording revenue and monitoring accounts receivable aging.Follow up on overdue payments and communicate with customers and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies.Financial Reporting:Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Generate financial reports and analysis as needed for management decision-making.Assist in the preparation of statutory filings, such as VAT returns and tax declarations.Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.Make recommendations for cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements.Compliance and Documentation:Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.Maintain orderly and accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and procedures.Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.Qualifications:5-7 years of experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or similar role.Proficiency in Netsuite and Microsoft Excel.Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong teamwork skills and leadership qualities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Proactive mindset.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment that is going through change.
