Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RF) (Pty) Ltd in WellingtonThe Senior Analytical Chemist is responsible for developing and validating analytical methodologies to test materials, collaborating with other departments, troubleshooting laboratory equipment, and interpreting data from testing.
The role includes overseeing and training chemists, ensuring that laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated, and executing routine and non-routine analyses that are accurate, reliable, timely, and according to the approved methods.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASAssist with the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.Support and align the analytical and technical services to support operations.Routine and non-routine analysis on raw materials, in-process, and final products.Manage instrumental analytical support with chromatography, NIR, spectroscopy, and titrimetric analysis.Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.Manage SHE and risk within an energetic material environment.Supervise and develop the laboratory team to exceed the service functional requirements.Conduct investigations, problem solving, and troubleshooting.Drive continuous development of the analytical and technical support function.Maintain good housekeeping and responsible waste management.WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVEBTech (Analytical Chemistry) or BSc (Chemistry/Material Science).Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.Supervisory experience will be advantageous.Minimum 5 years of analytical laboratory experience.Willing to work shifts.Good verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.Good management skills with a high concern for standards, efficiency, effectiveness, and results-oriented.Must be able to work under pressure.Knowledge of method qualification with standard practices (statistical, method validation, performance verification).
