As a Senior Red Hat OpenShift Administrator, you will lead the design, deployment, maintenance, and management of Red Hat OpenShift clusters for large-scale, enterprise environments. You will provide deep technical expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and manage containerized applications. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior team members and driving the adoption of containerization and DevOps best practices.Cluster Design and ArchitectureLead the design and architecture of Red Hat OpenShift clusters for large-scale, mission-critical applications.Define and implement multi-cluster strategies for high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability.Architect and implement advanced OpenShift components such as OpenShift Service Mesh, Pipelines, Operators, and Monitoring tools.Cluster Management and OptimizationManage day-to-day operations of OpenShift clusters, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance.Lead performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning efforts.Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for clusters using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.Security and ComplianceDevelop and enforce security best practices, including RBAC, network policies, and managing OpenShift security contexts.Ensure compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 by implementing security controls within OpenShift.Manage encryption, certificates, and key management for applications running in OpenShift.Automation and CI/CD IntegrationLead the development and management of automated deployment pipelines using OpenShift Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.Automate cluster provisioning, maintenance, and scaling using Ansible, Terraform, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.Drive automation across development, testing, and production environments using infrastructure-as-code practices.Leadership and MentorshipMentor and provide guidance to junior and intermediate administrators on best practices and troubleshooting.Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on OpenShift and Kubernetes, providing architectural and strategic guidance to other teams.Conduct technical workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions within the organization to foster a DevOps culture.Collaboration with Development TeamsCollaborate with application development and DevOps teams to support containerization efforts and CI/CD integration.Work with security, network, and compliance teams to ensure the alignment of infrastructure with organizational policies.Participate in incident response and root cause analysis efforts for OpenShift-related issues.Technical Expertise7+ years of hands-on experience managing Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes clusters in production environments.Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.Expertise in Linux systems administration, including troubleshooting, shell scripting, and performance tuning.Deep knowledge of networking concepts (VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers) as they pertain to OpenShift environments.Experience with OpenShift components such as Operators, Service Mesh, Pipelines, and monitoring stacks.ExperienceProven experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying OpenShift on cloud infrastructure.Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm.Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps pipelines, particularly in containerized environments.Experience with enterprise-grade security practices in containerized environments.CertificationsRed Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (EX280) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications are a plus.Leadership SkillsStrong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior and intermediate team members.Experience in leading projects and working with stakeholders across development, operations, and security teams.Salary Range: R78 000pm - R120 000pm (depending on the level of experience)We offer a competitive benefits package designed to reward and support our employees.
