Job DescriptionAn engineering company, within the sustainable energy technologies sector, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Finance Team as a whole.
This is a full-time, hybrid position.The role involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of accounting within the Investments and Engineering sectors.
This knowledge will enable you to effectively assist, recommend, and support the Finance Team.Responsibilities:Monitor that all the entities are tax-compliant in the various jurisdictions.Full insurance function for the Investments and Engineering group (including annual renewals, claims, adding assets etc.
)Monitor and ensure all debtor's accounts are paid up to date.
Follow up with the debtors if the account is overdue.Review and approve the monthly rooftop rental invoices.Prepare management accounts for smaller entities.Complete and submit the monthly EMP201's.Review of month-end journals including provisions, tax, journals, intercompany transactions, reconciliations and loan accounts.Assist the accountant in progressing monthly sales invoices if needed.Assist with the weekly bank processing if needed.Review and approve Livewires reports before sales invoices are generated.Review monthly sales invoices.Reviewing supplier payments before sending them for bank approval.Preparing audit files for annual audits and assisting auditors with the audits for all entities.Assisting with reviewing Financial Statements received from the Auditors.Opening of bank accounts and maintenance of accounts.Income Tax, VAT and EMP registrations for new companies.Filling out any ad-hoc documents.Review the VAT calculations and returns.Assist with completing and submitting annual income tax returns.Budgeting for Operations & Maintenance ("O&M") Department (3rd Party & Internal), processing of O&M accounting work and improving processes.BEE process and audits.RequirementsEducational requirements:Completed BCom or BAcc degree with completed SAIPA or SAICA articlesAn honours degree will be beneficial5 + years' experience in a similar roleProgrammes/Systems:Microsoft OfficeNetsuite (advantage)SARS E-filingIntermediate ExcelKnowledge:IFRS for SMECompany tax and SARS processes for new registrations/change of details etc.VATCompany Insurance (advantage)BEE process and audits (advantage)BudgetingAnnual audit process of a companyBehavioural attributes:Attention to detailTeamworkWork under pressure to meet deadlines/time managementCommunicate clearlyIntegrityAnalytic reasoningCritical thinkingAdaptabilityResilientBenefitsThe opportunity to work in a fast-growing industry.Exceptional experience in a supportive and flexible working environment.Hybrid (1 day remote, 4 days in-office with core working hours)Working Hours: Monday-Friday (08:00 - 17:00)
