A Johannesburg accounting firm seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to lead their accounting function. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, supervising and mentoring junior accountants, coordinating financial reporting, and contributing to financial strategy development.
Responsibilities: Collaborate on annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts, analyse variances, and provide decision-making insights. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, coordinate audits, and address findings promptly and effectively. Conduct thorough analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, providing actionable recommendations. Identify and implement accounting process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and controls. Manage tax compliance, including preparation, filing tax returns, and advise on tax planning strategies for optimal outcomes. Oversee implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems, ensuring data integrity and optimal functionality. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field and or master's degree in accounting or finance (preferred) Professional accounting certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) A minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements Strong technical accounting knowledge and expertise Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks) Understanding of advanced cybersecurity principles Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and tools Benefits:
