A position has become available for a Financial Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare month-end journals, calculations, and revaluations to ensure accurate financial reporting
Reconcile accounts and prepare TB for review, including completing commentary and key reconciliations
Ensure accurate results are presented by no later than the fourth working day of each month
Conduct FM reporting, including uploading and generating reports
Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare the year-end audit pack
Accounting Operations:
Analyze debtors aging for long outstanding and unpaid invoices
Prepare weekly and monthly cashflow forecasts for submission to management and Treasury
Loading of payments on the bank
Prepare the monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including TFR revenue/wagon hire and haulage reconciliation
Prepare two sets of AFS to submit to auditors and assist with audit workings
Prepare ad-hoc reports as required
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Prepare creditor reconciliations and manage payments
Ensure all supplier invoices have purchase orders raised against them
Check that purchase orders are raised in a timely manner prior to creditor payment deadlines and month-end
Send statements and invoices to debtors
Set up monthly meetings with senior management to discuss working capital items
Audits:
Provide support during external and internal audits
Review and evaluate financial controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Process Improvement and Compliance:
Review and analyze current processes, and identify areas for improvement to streamline operations
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Inventory and Stock Count Management:
Attend stock counts of the Rail companies and ensure compliance with group policies and procedures
Fixed Assets:
Prepare fixed asset forms monthly
Tax:
Prepare quarterly tax packs
Minimum Requirements:
BCOMM
Strong understanding of local accounting regulations and reporting requirements
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SAP, and other necessary software
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Able to work with different levels of management
Minimum Period of Experience / Training:
1-3 years' experience in financial accounting
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: R35000,00 - R45000,00 per month
