Join a dynamic and fast-paced construction company as a Senior Accountant. The successful candidate will report directly to the executive team, providing essential financial oversight and ensuring compliance, effective controls, and financial leadership across the group. This role requires experience in the Construction or Civil Engineering industry, with a proven track record of working with Executive-level management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
Lead the accounting and finance functions of the company, ensuring all financial policies and procedures are in place and aligned with industry standards.
Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, assisting with business planning and risk management.
Executive-Level Reporting:
Work closely with the CEO and Directors, delivering accurate and timely financial reports, including cash flow, budget performance, and management accounts.
Accounting & Budgetary Controls:
Oversee all aspects of accounting, including invoicing, payments, bank reconciliations, and petty cash management.
Implement effective budgetary controls to ensure project profitability and cost efficiency.
Project & Asset Management:
Ensure accurate project coding and allocation of costs, and manage the company's asset register, maintaining up-to-date and precise records.
Compliance & Taxation:
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and annual tax submissions.
Oversee BBBEE compliance, CIPC returns, and year-end financial closure processes.
Weekly Duties:
Prepare and analyze cash flow projections and financial obligations.
Perform bank reconciliations and report financial status to executive committees.
Monthly Duties:
Prepare management reports, reconcile creditors, and submit tax returns.
Provide budgetary reports and monthly cash flows.
Annual Duties:
Compile annual financial statements, budgets, and assist with external audits.
Ensure group-wide compliance with tax regulations, BBBEE, and statutory filings.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in a Senior Accounting or Finance role, with at least 3 years in the Construction or Civil Engineering industry.
Experience working with accounting software such as Sage or Pastel.
Proven ability to manage financial reporting at the executive level.
