Security Liaison Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced senior mental health nurse to work in the Security Liaison Nurse team in the Security Directorate at Broadmoor Hospital High Secure Services.
The Security Liaison Nurse is responsible for developing collaborative links between the Security Directorate, multi-disciplinary teams and other hospital and external services, in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors at Broadmoor Hospital.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be required to provide advice, guidance and training on aspects of physical, procedural and relational security to clinical teams and staff throughout the hospital.
The post holder is also responsible for working with teams to ensure that security standards are achieved and for ensuring that clinical and security practice are effectively integrated.
Applicants must have the ability to contribute to and influence service development and possess excellent communication, investigatory, auditing and analytical skills.
An excellent working knowledge of the High Security Psychiatric Services (Arrangements for Safety and Security) Directions 2019, the National Clinical Security Framework, security policies and procedures is also essential.
It is part of the Security Liaison Nurse role to complete investigations, audits and provide reports with recommendations to reduce/eliminate security risks and ensuring that any resulting actions are implemented.
There is a requirement within the role to be part of an on-call Security Liaison Nurses rota which provides appropriate security support and advice outside of normal working hours.

Person SpecificationQualificationsRegistered Nurse Mental HealthSecurity qualificationEvidence of further education and a training qualificationExperienceMinimum of two years post registration ward experience or equivalent in a secure NHS forensic setting or other relevant security related serviceExperience of undertaking investigationsExperience of organising and delivering specialist training to groups of staffExperience of project management/security worksKnowledgeWorking knowledge of the High Security Psychiatric Services (Arrangements for Safety & Security) Directions 2019.Working knowledge of the MHA & MHA Code of Practice and an up to date knowledge of current trends in mental health.Working knowledge of the National Clinical Security Framework.A thorough understanding of the security needs of patients with criminal or violent propensities within the context of patient care.Working knowledge of clinical and security risk assessment.Up to date knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018 within the context of a high security environment.SkillsAbility to work autonomously as well as constructively in small and large teams.Excellent communication skills and a confident speaker with the ability to provide specialist advice.To be credible and able to influence at a senior level.Good organisational and administrative skills, proficient in report writing.Competent operator of IT equipment and programmes e.g.
