Role Responsibility
The Contract Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that the site allocated to the role is deemed operationally efficient, that the contractual requirements are adhered to, and that security staff are fully trained, motivated, and supported as per their specific job descriptions. Other responsibilities will include related administration, technology, incident management, HR, logistics, quality, and financial management functions.
The successful incumbent has a strong character and is able to make decisions with minimum input from senior management. They must be an excellent communicator in English and Afrikaans (technical, verbal, correspondence, report writing, and client liaison) and have knowledge of complex industry trends, incident management, current security issues, and security technology initiatives.
Key Outputs
Responsible for developing and maintaining effective security structures and measures.
Initiating or maintaining policies and procedures for general safety and security.
Maintaining and managing relationships with site clients.
Managing security contractors and their manpower activities.
Overseeing and managing control room operations.
Managing the access control function to site specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.
Managing operations linking the control room, guarding, and rapid response functions.
Conducting and closing out investigations relating to security or safety matters, including liaison with authorities and emergency services.
Ensuring that staff are trained according to training requirement schedules and assessments are done to confirm competency.
Managing security systems including patrols, surveillance, door locking mechanisms, control of restricted areas, and monitoring of master keys.
Training of staff: selecting, training, scheduling, disciplining, and directing security personnel in all aspects of security policies and procedures.
Conducting inspections relating to Security Estates.
Attending regular security meetings.
Supervising the security team effectively, ensuring that security staff do their jobs properly.
Maintaining good working relationships with management and members of other departments.
Keeping abreast of news and security trends as well as various ad hoc duties.
Qualifications
Valid PSIRA Grade A certificate.
Matric certificate/Grade 12 Equivalent.
Security Management certificate/Diploma or a relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous.
Valid Driver's Licence and own reliable transport, including weekend and after-hour visits and audits.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience on large estates (residential).
Minimum 5 years previous Security Management and management of people experience.
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
