Job Purpose: Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all production-related farm activities on the allocated production area.
Key Accountability Areas:
Ensure timely and accurate execution of production tasks as communicated by and agreed with the Production Manager.
Measurement and collection of relevant data to provide feedback in terms of measuring efficacies of production against protocols and planning.
Implement, measure, and evaluate the efficacies of sprays, pruning, and irrigation, contract workers, and provide feedback to the Production Manager.
Management of stock, labour, and production costs, record keeping, and reports to the Production Manager.
Motivate, mentor, coach, and manage a team of workers, with special reference to supervisors and scouts.
Regular meetings with scouts to ensure Pest & Disease identification and management system run efficiently.
Communicate and motivate interventions regarding pest, irrigation, pruning, and other production-related matters due to specific visual interpretation, discrepancies, or deviations from the standard.
Make cost-effective decisions.
Manage the farm discipline.
Effective placing and development of subordinates under your control through training and creating opportunities for innovation.
Responsible for production admin in your zone including the following records: Fertigation, Irrigation, Pest control, Production (yield), Orchard Management, weed control, Harvesting.
Upkeep of personnel admin of subordinates under your control.
Qualifications and Experience:
Grade 12.
Relevant Qualification in Agriculture/Farming would be advantageous.
Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in farming/managerial role.
Code C1(10) Drivers Licence with PDP.

Due to the nature of farm work, variations in workloads relate to seasonal demands; some unsociable hours may be necessary during busy periods (e.g., during harvesting), and the section managers will be expected to deal with emergencies.
