Job Description The Challenge The Section Engineering Manager will lead the Plant Engineering & Maintenance team to foster a high-performance culture and achieve production and business continuity targets.
The role includes legal accountability (2.13.3.1 appointment as per MHSA) for the safe operation and maintenance of fixed plant equipment and structures at Venetia Mine.
Key Performance Areas : Ensure compliance with legal, safety, environmental, and hygiene standards.
Develop and maintain a risk log with mitigation strategies aligned to the Strategic Business Plan.
Implement policies and procedures to meet SHE, Engineering, and Operational standards.
Manage financial resources to optimize equipment availability and lifecycle.
Oversee team coordination and resource allocation to execute maintenance and operational plans.
Collaborate with maintenance, operational, and support teams to deliver fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
Lead, motivate, and develop human resources to ensure a skilled and competent team.
Enhance maintenance strategies for optimal uptime and equipment reliability.
Manage engineering projects and construction activities within the section.
Operationalize maintenance strategies into work packages and tactics.
Ensure legal and statutory requirements are met for all planned and executed work.
Implement critical plant and equipment strategies to meet availability, reliability, and cost targets.
Requirements Qualifications and Skills Required : Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent.
Government Certificate of Competency (Mines).
Skills/Competencies : In-depth knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Proven expertise in asset management and turnaround strategies for underperforming plants.
Capital project management skills.
Proficiency in engineering risk identification and hazard mitigation.
Strong planning, analytical, and prioritization abilities.
Effective relationship building and communication skills.
Demonstrated capability in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
Proficient in project management and report writing.
Strong interpersonal skills.
