The Engineering Asset and Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering assets, resources, and infrastructure.
This includes planning for the long-term and short-term availability of machinery and equipment and managing resources to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards, procedures, and policies.
Communicate any changes to legal requirements.Optimize planned maintenance to support production targets by providing technical expertise to mining operation teams, coordinating planned maintenance and major overhauls/shutdowns, and investigating, monitoring, and eliminating causes of breakdowns.Manage personnel effectively, ensuring roles are clearly defined and competencies and learning paths are developed to enhance human capacity and capability.Oversee engineering projects and asset optimization initiatives, ensuring the implementation of best practices and knowledge sharing.Manage financial budgeting and expenditures.Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with Coal standards.Qualifications and Requirements: Degree or National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.Government Certificate of Competency (GCC).Completion of a structured Engineering Internship program or a minimum of 5 years of experience as a General Engineering Supervisor and/or Engineering Foreman.Extensive experience in managing Surface Services/Opencast sections machinery in a coal mine.Deep understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation, including The Mine Health and Safety Act and Minerals and Energy Acts.In-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects, such as OEM's and SABS/SANS standards.Proficiency with machinery and equipment used in the relevant operations.Knowledge of flameproofing and gas testing.Understanding of engineering best practices and new technologies related to engineering principles and processes.Familiarity with environmental standards.Proven technical and maintenance management capabilities.Strong project management and report writing skills.Knowledge of supply chain management.Experience with SAP maintenance and supply chain modules.Proficient in MS Office.Valid driver's license.Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness.Preferred Qualifications: Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).Membership in other South African Engineering Associations.Completion of a Management Development Program or equivalent.
