We're on the lookout for an experienced Senior Risk Officer: L&D to provide guidance, support, and enforce compliance with Sappi policies, procedures, legal obligations, and best practices that are pertinent to the industry, using a process of continuous identification and development. In addition, maintain the ISO 45001 certification for the plant.
As a Senior Risk Officer: L&D, you will be responsible for: Conduct risk assessments, verify the effectiveness of risk controls, and ensure continuous reviewFacilitate Root Cause Analysis and ensure implementation of corrective/preventive measuresCreate awareness, record keeping, and audit compliance to all safety systemsManage, implement, maintain & promote a Behavior Based Safety programme with regular trend analysis and reportingOversee the induction programme for the mill (mill-wide and site-specific) with an annual refresher. Carry out plant-specific induction, orientation, and SHEQ Risk awarenessFacilitate and co-ordinate incident investigations.Carry out formal and informal safety audits of the plant and personnel and report deviationsMonitor critical jobs and ensure that the correct isolation procedures have been implementedChampion the Energy isolation and ensure adherence to the correct procedures for issuing work permits and audit compliance to the procedure on a regular basisCo-ordinate the activities of the Safety Reps and ensure that inspections are correctly carried out, and suitable corrective action is taken. Coaching the safety representatives to improve their safety inspections and reportingMonitor and develop good occupational health practicesLiaise with the OHC department to resolve occupational health problems in the section. Effectively participate in the development of Occupational exposure risk profiles (OREPS)Ensure that the plant complies with legislation and ensures continuous improvement.Update work instructions and procedures according to IMSPerform daily Risk inspections in and around the plants.Review & update procedures, work instructions, and policies to ensure that the system is fully implemented.Investigate internal Risk concerns and assist plant management in closing out deviations.Facilitate SHEQ and Toolbox meetings when requiredParticipate in Hazop and Swifts for plant modificationsEnsure timeous close out of Isometrix deviationsWhat are we looking for? Minimum NQF Level 6 qualification in either Safety / Risk Management or relevant qualification.3 Years of relevant experience in Manufacturing EnvironmentKnowledge of ISO SystemsSAP/Isometrix Literacy advantageousWhat's in it for you?
