Job Purpose
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, identifying and managing customer relationships while exploring new business opportunities in the wholesale segment of the market. The main responsibility is to drive selling functions to carrier clients with the goal of achieving the set revenue and profit target assigned by the company.
Additionally, the candidate will be the face of CMI as the commercial interface with C-level executives in South Africa while maintaining very close customer relationships to support daily selling activities.
Job Functions & Required Skills / Knowledge Sales & Revenue: Present CMI's brand to Southern Africa's carrier players. Manage relations with clients, acquire RFP invites, present feasible and competitive solutions, approach bids until sealed deals. Understand own network capability as well as resale in the wholesale Telecom market. Business scopes cover capacity, IP Transit, IP-VPN, Internet, Colocation, Roaming, Mobile (voice trading exclusive) in MEA region.Business Development: Explore new business opportunities and forge relations with target clients by networking and presenting CMI's service and capability. Develop new carrier to carrier sales opportunities from allocated African carrier clients.Relationship Management: Primary contact point to carrier partners/clients, interface and organize all commercial events and social interactions requested by/to partners/clients.Commercial Marketing Strategy: Carry out regular market research and help contribute intelligence into pricing functions. Coordinate with multiple internal departments to position CMI's product and ensure the customers' required needs are met in time.Compliance: Manage contracts with carrier partners/clients. Ensure all of the internal sales processes are done as per company policies and prepare reports to supervisor and senior management.Job Requirements Qualification: Bachelor's degree or above in a related field from a reputable University. Certifications or supplementary sales training.Working Experience: Minimum 8 years of sales in the telecom industry, at least 5 years hands-on sales experience in carrier or wholesale telecom market. Strong understanding of the wholesale telecom market in the Southern Africa Region. Excellent leadership and coaching skills. Techno-commercial experience: ability to understand technical products and their commercial makeup in buying and selling and contract formulation. Account management and sales skills – Hunting and Farming. Accounting and finance: Above average understanding of financial terms like P&L statements, GP and EBITDA. Understanding of local tax regulations and policy in the region.Skills & Personal Attributes: Have a solid understanding of Telecommunication networks and new technologies like IoT, 5G, FTTx, cloud, data centers, and IP. Ability to learn quickly and answer technical questions from CTOs and network managers. Solid computer skills on Microsoft Office suites. Ability to create presentations and reports on short notice with minimal support. Responsible, excellent work ethic, hardworking, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure or after hours when necessary. Grounded, stable, and personable. High working integrity with an ongoing 'Can-do' attitude and respect for authority. Excellent communications and coordination skills. Team player and willingness to participate in team socials. Good presentation skills. Able to clearly articulate the vision and strategy, and they should be able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English or locally spoken languages. Ability to travel 25-50% of the time both locally and internationally. Must be able to bounce back from setbacks and adapt to change.
