This position requires a dynamic individual with a blend of sales acumen and operational expertise in the logistics industry, specifically in road freight.TheLogistics Consultant plays a critical role in expanding our client baseand optimizing our road freight operations.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, a deep understanding of road freight logistics, and the ability to drive operational improvements.They should have at least 2 - 4 years' experience in a similar role within the transport industry.Preference will be given to someone with a relevant qualification (degree or diploma).Must have own Client Based book (highly beneficial)Must be willing to TravelMust have own reliable transportation.MINIMUM REQUIREMETNSQualificationsRelevant Qualification/Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.Experience & SkillsMinimum of 2 - 4 years' experience as a Logistics Consultant (Sales) and/or Supply Chain Management, Logistics Operations within the transport industry.Extensive New Business Development and Sales experience required. Own Book, highly beneficial.Strong understanding and experience in road freight logistics and supply chain management.Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.Organised and able to track transactions.Client Relationship Management.Client and Transport Expansion.Cost AnalysisPerformance TrackingAdministrative ProceduresHaulage ServicesNegotiation and QuotationsExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Analytical and problem-solving abilities.Entrepreneurial Nature.Ability to provide excellent customer service and to build relationships.Duties/ResponsibilitiesClient Relationship Management.Establish and nurture relationships with both new and existing clients, including conducting regular visits.Develop and strengthen relationships with current transporters, clients, and truck drivers.Client and Transport Expansion.Actively seek and identify new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and other lead generation activities.Build and maintain relationships with potential clients and transporters, understanding their needs and providing suitable solutions.Cost AnalysisUnderstand the running costs of vehicles to determine Cost Per Kilometre (CPK).Analyse commodity trends and adapt strategies to market fluctuations.Performance TrackingRegularly track and analyse performance against targets and budgets, identifying areas for improvement.Administrative ProceduresMaintain established administrative procedures to ensure smooth operations.ETA Tracking and CommunicationFollow up with transporters to determine the accurate Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of trucks.Communicate effectively with clients to keep them informed about the status of their cargo.Haulage ServicesProvide timely and efficient haulage services to meet the Company's delivery deadlines.Maintain constant contact with clients and haulers to develop strong relationships and secure business.Negotiation and QuotationsNegotiate tariffs, fees, discounts, and contracts with clients and haulers.Compile quotations for both new and established clients to ensure competitive pricing and service.Personal Attributes/BehaviorsExcellent negotiation skills.Excellent planning and organizational skills.Strong leadership qualities and the ability to solve problems creatively.Excellent communication and language skills.Desired SkillsLogistics ConsultantLogistics SalesLogistics OperationsRoad FreightTransportRoad Freight OperationsSalesSupply ChainSupply Chain ManagementTransport IndustryClient Relationship ManagementLogistic SoftwareTransaction TrackingClient ExpansionTransport ExpansionCost AnalysisPerformance TrackingAdministrative ProceduresHaulage ServicesNegotiations and QuotationsTruck DriversETA trackingNegotiationNegotiationsDesired Work Experience2 to 5 years Logistics ManagementDesired Qualification LevelDegreeAbout The EmployerLarge, well-known Transport and Logistics Company, specializing in: movement of bulk, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), containerised and palletised goodEmployer & Job BenefitsCommission StructurePension
