Job Title: Sales and Marketing Development Lead – Recycling – Polymer Our client, a leading company in the recycling sector, are seeking an experienced Sales & Market Development Lead with deep expertise in the polymer and recycling industries. This role will be based in either Ballito In this pivotal role, you will drive the development of new business opportunities within the polymer and recycling industries, specifically focusing on recycled PET materials such as food-grade resin, PET clean flakes, and other associated by-products. You will play a critical role in expanding our customer base and establishing strong relationships, primarily within South Africa and neighbouring countries. Key Responsibilities Include: Customer Development: Expand and strengthen relationships with key customers for rPET products, including resin and clean flakes. Focus on large-scale customers like those at the Gauteng based plant and beyond. Sales Growth: Identify and explore new market channels in industries such as FMCG and fiber, driving the sales of rPET resin and flakes to reach the full capacity of 35,000 tons annually. Side Stream Optimization: Collaborate with the Production department to manage and optimize off-spec materials and process side streams, finding cost-effective solutions for sales or disposal. Collaboration Across Departments: Work closely with Quality and Procurement teams to ensure alignment between PET bottle quality and finished product requirements, maximizing sales potential. Key Qualifications: Industry Expertise: 5 -10 years of proven experience in Sales & Business Development within international manufacturing environments, with a strong focus on the polymer, plastic recycling, or food packaging industries. Candidates without manufacturing experience will not be considered. Technical and Commercial Insight: Deep understanding of polymer and recycling processes, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex B2B sales in this niche market. Network: An established network within the manufacturing industry, particularly within polymer and recycling sectors, is essential for success in this role. Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or commercial field, ideally with a focus on sales within relevant industries. Track Record: Proven success in developing and executing business strategies for recycled polymers, including setting up new operations and expanding market presence. Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish profitable and sustainable partnerships. Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and professionalism is crucial. Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently, meet KPIs, and proactively resolve challenges while thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Other Requirements: A driven, energetic individual with a passion for achieving results. Ability to travel as needed and adapt quickly to evolving role requirements. Expertise in developing sales pipelines and maintaining strong customer relationships.
