Company DescriptionJoin us as Safety Officer, where you will be responsible for the management of safety at an Operation and the optimisation of the operational risk management for contractors, and associated activities, at chemical processing plants through design, implementation, evaluation, coordination and management of the safety and risk functions, as well as for ensuring legal compliance at the site via the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) and its regulations, including Construction Regulations where applicable.

Job DescriptionAs the Safety Officer your responsibilities will include: Executes the function of Safety Officer applying and enforcing OHSA legal compliance. Ensure the Anglo American Platinum Policies , procedures, and frameworks for SHERQ are applied, including the following:
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems conformanceISO Auditing, and related SHE auditsDevelop tactics and strategy for the annual Safety Improvement Plan and ensuring plans are in place for Operations.Tracking, Measuring and analysis of leading and lagging indicators and developing improvement plans.Presenting current status of indicators of performance and crafting future improvementsSafety Reps at the designated areas as part of a larger SHEQ Team.Participate, lead, coach, mentor, and drive site safety inspections yourself and influence production teams.Co-ordinate and participate in Safety VFLs, and audits for Operations/Site.Co-ordinate and participate in various types of Risk-Assessments for the Operations.Manage the quality of PTO's, JRA's, action close-out, and other Isometrix/IMS tools.Enforce safety systems, even if paper based initially.Drive proper incident investigations for the operation, and ensuring standards are set and learned by contractors.Advises and review of safety policies, procedures and standards aligned to AAP standards.Recommends and implements safety and risk controls.Manages external and internal safety audits with the team.Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities, as well as low energy incidents.Identify specific risks within working area and adhere to discipline-specific plans/system to avoid or mitigate these risks.Hold individuals to account in line with their role authority and accountability structuresAdhere to external local compliance requirements as a minimum level of site performanceAdhere to Anglo American compliance requirements and ensure compliance of teamThis role is in the SHE Department at a Band 7 level, reporting to Safety Advisor (previously called Chief Safety Officer).
