Our client is a building contractor specializing in mostly high-end luxury residential projects. They are looking for an experienced Safety Officer to join their project team and ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel on site.Key Requirements:SACPCMP Registration: Registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.Certifications: Must hold certificates in Health and Safety Management, NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or a similar recognized qualification.Professional Construction Safety Officer Registration: Valid SACPCMP registration as a Construction Safety Officer.Basic Fire Fighting & First Aid: Certification in basic fire fighting and first aid is essential, with a practical understanding of emergency protocols.Computer Literacy: Proficient in using software for reporting, documentation, and record keeping.Key Responsibilities:Safety Management: Implement and manage comprehensive safety processes across the project, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and industry best practices.Regular Site Inspections: Conduct frequent inspections of construction sites to monitor safety compliance, identify hazards, and take corrective action where necessary.Safety Audits: Perform detailed safety audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety measures and procedures in place.Training & Development: Manage and deliver safety inductions and ongoing training for site staff, ensuring full understanding and implementation of safety procedures.Incident Investigation: Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses that occur on site, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures.Reporting & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and training activities. Prepare detailed safety reports for project management.Compliance with Local Authorities: Ensure adherence to all local regulatory requirements and safety standards as set out by the relevant authorities.PPE Management: Oversee the supply and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all site personnel.Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain site-specific emergency plans and first aid protocols to ensure readiness in case of an emergency.Safety Process Oversight: Continuously monitor and manage the implementation of safety processes across the entire project to ensure they meet the highest standards.Candidate Profile:A proven track record of success in safety management within the construction industry, with references available upon request.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear and concise safety documentation and reports.A proactive approach to safety, with a strong ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and site management to ensure safety goals are met.Application Process:Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further steps in the hiring process.
