To support this mission, we are seeking a proactive and dedicated Safety Officer to ensure that our integrated safety systems are implemented effectively, protecting both people and the environment.Key Responsibilities:Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining SHE management system procedures (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).Annually revise and update aspects, impacts registers, and risk assessments for the site.Identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions using the Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) system; report BBS statistics in meetings.Ensure compliance with SHE legislation, processes, procedures, and insurance requirements.Compile and maintain a SHER audit program, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Willis Blue insurance audits, legal compliance audits, ASIB audits, and more.Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness.Coach teams and management on BBS and SHER legal requirements.Investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, propose corrective actions, and ensure closeout of recommendations.Drive SHER awareness programs, including toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and other initiatives.Track and monitor SHER KPIs, developing interventions to improve safety and compliance.Compile monthly SHER reports for the plant and division.Ensure PPE compliance during purchasing processes and manage contractor safety files.Conduct regular emergency drills, daily walkabouts, and SHER compliance inspections.Review and maintain the site's emergency procedures and ISO manuals to ensure adherence to standards.Assist in issuing permits-to-work and auditing contractor activities on site.Coordinate contractor performance evaluations and ensure contract compliance.Identify SHER training needs and coordinate training for employees, contractors, and visitors.Promote SHER systems and Behavior Based Safety program awareness.Maintain the site's SHER training matrix and legal appointments.Qualifications:National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Science.SAMTRAC/NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent occupational SHER training is advantageous.Experience:Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in an industrial environment.Proven experience in implementing Environment, Health, Safety, and Risk systems.
