Job Opportunity: Safety Officer
RPO Recruitment is currently representing a leading mining company in the Northern Cape, who is seeking a skilled Safety Officer to join their team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform roles and responsibilities of the Safety Officer as depicted in the MHSA regulation 2.17.1 read with all the stipulations of Regulation 2.19.1.
Maintain safety management system (SMS) procedures for the operation in specific area of responsibility, to ensure adherence to Group Standards and Legal Requirements, and recommends changes where appropriate.
Communicate and enforce changes to or compliance to legislation and other requirements to ensure organisational legal compliance.
Communicate Health and Safety Awareness & Campaigns and on-the-job coaching of legislative and procedural requirements.
Conduct and coach Health and Safety Risk Assessments relevant to issues, changes or routine activities executed in workplaces.
Conduct safety inspections according to risk classification schedules (30, 45, 60 or 90 days), write reports, load actions onto IsoMetrix and follow up actions taken to remediate findings and close off findings.
Meet with HOD and supervisors in area of responsibility to ensure compliance to Requirements.

Requirements:

Grade 12.
COMSOC 1 & 2/SAMTRAC Diploma or degree in Health and Safety Management or related field would be advantageous.
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in safety within a mining environment.
Must reside in the Northern Cape.
