QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 with Safety Management Diploma preferred
COMSOC 1 & 2 / SAMTRAC
5 Years minimum proven track record in discipline-specific and supervisory experience
All MQA unit standards or recognized as a fully qualified Health and Safety Officer
Experience working with a combination of MHSA and OHSA
Plant (Chrome and PGM recovery) experience
Training experience will be advantageous
Computer Literacy including Presentation skills
Practical knowledge of and experience in Safety Management
Practical knowledge of pertinent SHE legislation
Experience in risk assessments, HIRA, and RA Software used in the industry
Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Understanding of ISO 45001:2018
Campaign and education-oriented with the ability to manage such programs entirely
Engineering trade will be advantageous

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct workplace inspections and legal compliance audits
Compile daily, weekly, and monthly SHE reports
Ensure all incidents and unsafe acts are reported
Facilitate investigations
Implement risk assessments
Analyze and evaluate the quality of risk assessments, PTOs, Safe declarations, and Pre-use inspections
Drive the functioning of Health and Safety Representatives
Follow through on actions and closing out reports
Provide site induction and on-the-job training
Assess contractor H&S files
Address non-conformances and compliances
Maintain high standards of report and record keeping
Present a professional image of the SHERQ department
Conduct medical examination follow-ups and address issues that may arise
Manage PPE issuing and control
Assist with stock take on all H&S equipment e.g. PPE
Drafting of procedures

Salary: Between R65,000 - R69,000 per month
