Safety Officer

Implement and maintain safety policies and procedures on the plant.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 with Safety Management Diploma as a 
minimum preferred
- COMSOC 1&2 / SAMTRAC 
- 5 Years minimum proven track record discipline –
specific and supervisory experience
- All MQA unit standards or recognized in making up 
for fully qualified Health and Safety Officer working 
with combination of MHSA as well as OHSA
- Plant (Chrome and PGM recovery) experience.
- Training experience will be advantageous
- Computer Literacy including Presentation skills
- Practical knowledge of and experience in Safety 
Management
- Practical knowledge of pertinent SHE legislation 
- Risk assessments, HIRA, RA Software used in 
the industry
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or 
practices
- Understanding of ISO45001:2018
- Campaign and education orientated with the 
ability to manage such programs in its entirety.
- Engineering trade will be advantageous
Conduct workplace inspections and legal compliance 
audits
- Compile daily / weekly and monthly SHE reports
- Ensure all incidents and unsafe acts are reported.
- Facilitate investigations.
- Risk Assessments.
- Analyze / Evaluate the quality of risk assessments, 
PTOs, Safe declarations, Pre-use inspections.
- Drive the functioning of Health and Safety Reps.
- Follow through on actions, closing out reports
- Provide site induction and on the job training
- Assess contractor H&S files
- Address non-conformances / compliances
- Report and record keeping of high standard
- Present a professional image of the SHERQ 
department 
- Medical examination follow ups and addressing 
issues that may arise
- PPE Issuing and control
- Be able to assist with stock take on all H&S 
equipment e.g. PPE
- Drafting of procedures

Salary between R65 000 - R69 000pm
