Safety Officer - Carletonville

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Safety Officer Projects to be placed at Mponeng Project in Carletonville, Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Project Manager. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Ability to conduct investigations and record findingsAnalytical with sound attention to detailObservant and perceptive; ability to identify a threat or potential threatPerformance and achievement drivenEmotionally matureAssertive and independentBasic knowledge of mining operations and methodsBasic knowledge of relevant safety principles and systemsSound interpersonal and verbal and written communication skillsProblem solving mindset with an ability to make recommendationsSuitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: Grade 12 or equivalentNational Diploma in Safety / Risk Management or equivalent at NQF Level 6 [advantageous]COMSOC 1 & 2Investigation / Tap Root training (preferred)Audit certification for ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001Valid EB driver's licenceProficient in MS Office [Word, Excel]Good English verbal and written communication skillsSuitable candidates must have the following work experience: At least 3 years' experience in a similar role in the mining sectorAbility to conduct investigations and record findingsExperience in relevant safety principles and systemsAll appointments will be done in line with our employment equity strategy.
