Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Safety Manager.
The successful candidate will report to the Risk Executive.
The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position.
Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Lead and supervise a team.
Develop and execute health and safety plans/programmes in the workplace in accordance with legal guidelines.
Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety on sites.
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to legal requirements.
Conduct training and presentations relating to health, safety and accident prevention.
Monitor compliance to policies, procedures and quality standards.
Analysing data, conducting risk assessments/audits and accurate reporting thereon.
Proactive risk identification and mitigation.
Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC's values and leadership initiatives.
Conduct site visits, local and abroad, on short notice to provide management with technical expertise/advice when required.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: Safety Management related Degree or BTech at NQF 7.
Advanced Accident Investigation Techniques.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Audit certification for ISO9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Analytical with attention to detail.
Sound understanding of the Mine Health & Safety Act.
Ability to lead and manage a team.
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role in underground mining.
In depth experience developing and executing risk, health and safety plans/programmes in the workplace in accordance with legal guidelines.
Experience evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to quality, health and safety regulations.
Experience analyzing data and conducting risk assessments and audits.
Experience developing and enforcing policies and procedures.
Experience leading and supervising a team.
