We Go Places! How about you? Immediate Superior: HSE Specialist Job Grade: 9 Location: Springs Function: Supply Chain Sub Function: Manufacturing Type of Contract: Permanent Reference Number: 123624 Closing Date: 7 November 2024
Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position to be based at Springs.
The successful candidate will report to the HSE Specialist.
Key Performance Areas:

Contribute towards HSE departmental goals and improvements to achieve best practices and standards.
Oversee day-to-day management of safety and environmental systems ensuring OHS & ISO 14001 compliance.
Responsible for contractor management ensuring compliance.
Conduct training, determine training needs, awareness and orientation overviews, and induction for staff and contractors.
Conduct audits.
Conduct hazard identifications and risk assessments.
Detect, measure, monitor, and reduce non-conformances.
Efficiently handle incident and accident investigations.
Report on DFIR.
Drive optimisation and improvement of HSE systems and processes which enhance safety, compliance, and reduce risk.
Develop plans and review safety and risk performance against targets regularly to ensure continuous improvement.
Provide support and guidance to all staff, visitors, and contractors to minimise injuries, incidents, and non-conformant behaviors.
Drive effective emergency response plans and access control/loss prevention systems.
Champion adherence to relevant HSE policies, procedures, work instructions, and SOPs.
Report status on risk, HSE status, and progress to management.
Liaise with authorities and emergency services.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 PLUS National Diploma in Safety or any other relevant qualification (NQF 5).
SAMTRAC or equivalent.
3 – 5 years safety experience in the FMCG Industry.
Sound knowledge of the OSH Act and all other Safety, Environmental, and Security legislation.
Good communication skills.
Ability to interact with people on all levels; coordinate and facilitate.
Computer literacy is essential.
Ability to work independently and cope under pressure.
Ability to organise and lead.
