Job Title: Rock Engineer SuperintendentLocation: North West, South AfricaIndustry: MiningRPO Recruitment's client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rock Engineer Superintendent to join their team in the North West region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise in rock mechanics and ground control to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our mining activities. They will work closely with mine management, geotechnical engineers, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement reliable ground control solutions and monitoring systems.Responsibilities:Conduct geotechnical investigations and assessments to determine ground conditions and identify potential hazards.Develop and implement ground support systems, monitoring programs, and ground control plans in accordance with industry best practices.Provide technical guidance and support to mine production teams regarding ground stability, rock support, and blasting techniques.Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.Collaborate with other departments to optimize mining methods and design for safe mining operations.Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians in rock mechanics principles and practices.Essential Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.Rock Mechanics Certificate – Open pit with slope stability.Registered member of SANIRE.6 years' relevant experience, with 2 years' managerial experience.2 years experience as a Rock Engineer in surface mining operations.Experience with ground control software and geotechnical instrumentation.Strong understanding of mining regulations and safety standards.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to mine sites as needed.Benefits:Salary: Negotiable.Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity).Paid Time Off (PTO) (if applicable).If you meet the above requirements and want to make a career-changing move, apply today by either filling in the online application form or emailing your CV to RPO Recruitment at ****** note that correspondence will only be conducted with shortlisted candidates for this position.
