They are our greatest asset.Join us and let's grow together.We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in Witbank, Mpumalanga.The successful candidate will be responsible for acting proactively to identify potentially dangerous situations and to take and/or recommend any remedial action before any persons are injured or equipment/workings damaged, and to define in consultation with the Operations Managers and other relevant stakeholders the appropriate operational methodologies and procedures, i.e., support systems, congruent with the mining conditions.Key Responsibilities:Ensuring compliance to Rock Engineering Governance.Recommending new appropriate rock mechanic technologies, systems and practices by investigating and evaluating new technology, systems and practices and monitoring and reporting on feasibility.Ensuring safe and efficient operational achievements by implementing Health & Safety targets pertaining to strata control.Providing training and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are conversant in all aspects of strata control.Establishing and maintaining effective communication and network channels by conducting and attending weekly meetings with the various stakeholders.Investigating and managing the reported Fall of Ground incidents and accidents.Implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management System and ensuring compliance with the HSE Policies and Procedures.Minimum Qualifications:A relevant degree.Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics Certificate in Coal/Hard Rock.Opencast blasting certificate will be advantageous.Minimum Experience:Minimum 5 years' experience at Strata Control Officer level.Behavioural Competencies:Practical skills and common sense to solve problems and deliver on accountabilities.Ability to take decisive action and assume responsibility for making difficult decisions that affect people and business performance.Ability to take the lead, set objectives, sequence processes/initiatives/projects and organise resources to manage risk and achieve desired objectives.Ability to adhere to rules and regulations, follow instructions and limit the risk of any non-compliance to the business.Ability to work consistently hard to achieve deliverables and honour commitments made.
