Overview

Hire Resolve's client is seeking a highly experienced Roads and Earthworks Estimator to join their team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating, planning, and executing large-scale road and earthwork projects. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

Accurately prepare cost estimates for roads and earthworks projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
Develop comprehensive bid proposals and tender submissions, ensuring all client requirements and specifications are met.
Conduct detailed cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets and improve profitability.
Review project plans, specifications, and other technical documents to determine project scope and requirements.
Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate and complete estimates.
Develop project schedules and timelines, ensuring alignment with cost estimates and project goals.
Maintain detailed and organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation.
Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to clarify project requirements and provide updates on estimates and bids.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in estimating techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the estimation process.

Requirements:

Approximately 10 years of experience in estimating roads and earthworks projects.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards for roads and earthworks.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, ASPE) are a plus.
