Job Purpose
The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to manage and supervise the road worker maintenance teams while performing road maintenance on Proclaimed Road Network in the West Coast Area. This post is based in Malmesbury.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10 (or equivalent qualification); A minimum of 3 years relevant experience; A valid (Code EC) driving licence with a professional driving permit (PDP).
Key Performance Areas
Plan, supervise and undertake road maintenance activities; Determine material quantities for road maintenance activities; Define road defects and undertake corrective measures; Safeguard work areas in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act; Train subordinates.
Competencies
Good understanding of the maintenance and repair of defects on roads and within road reserves; Conflict and diversity management; Skills needed: Communication (verbal and written); Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Ability to work in a team; Self-motivated.
Remuneration
R 171 537 per annum (Salary Level 4)

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. Candidates will be required to complete a practical exercise as part of the interviewing process. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department. Applicants from within the West Coast Area will receive preference. Nominated Candidate/s will be subjected to a medical fitness test as prescribed by the Construction Regulations, as contained in the OHS Act, 85/1993.
