Job Purpose The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to manage and supervise specialized road worker maintenance teams, with specific reference to Herbicider, as well as assistance with duties attached to the maintenance and construction activities of the Proclaimed Road Network.
Minimum Requirements Grade 10 (or equivalent qualification); A minimum of 3 years relevant experience; A valid (Code EC) driving licence with a professional driving permit (PDP).
Key Performance Areas Management of Herbicide Team during construction and maintenance of the Proclaimed Road Network; Operating of various types of machinery and equipment; Supervision and utilization of labourers to ensure effective management of subordinates; Perform generic administrative functions pertaining to the post.
Competencies Good understanding of the following: Operating of construction related machines; Interpretation of basic civil drawing and determine quantities of goods & services; Skills needed: Supervisory skills; Communication (verbal and written); Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Ability to work in a team; Self-motivated.
Remuneration R 183 279 per annum (Salary Level 4)
Notes Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to complete a practical exercise and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. Candidates will be required to complete a practical exercise as part of the interviewing process.
