Job Description The Road Freight Sales/Business Development Consultant plays a critical role in expanding the client base of the company within South Africa and across the SADC region. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong sales acumen in the logistics and road freight industry, specifically in road freight. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, a deep understanding of road freight logistics (refrigerated) with an active network base. Key Performance Outputs The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Actively identify and source new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and other lead generation activities. Develop a qualified pipeline of leads and convert to actual billing sustainable clients. Manage client relationships, both existing and new. Conduct and manage daily general administrative duties. Analysis of sales and report weekly to Director. Assist in tender/proposal preparation, submission and presentation. Create sustainable value for customers by adopting an innovative approach to their business. Ensure the required monthly and accumulative targets are met. Meet the expected client call ratio KPI as indicated by Director. Weekly and Monthly reporting. Build and maintain relationships with potential clients and transporters, understanding their needs and providing suitable solutions. Establish and nurture relationships with both new and existing clients, including conducting regular visits. Understand the running costs of vehicles to determine Cost Per Kilometre. Regularly track and analyse performance against targets and budgets, identifying areas for improvement. Negotiate tariffs, fees, discounts, and contracts with clients. Compile quotations for both new and established clients to ensure competitive pricing and service. Technical Skills and Experience Matric / Grade 12 Minimum of 2-3 years New Business sales experience with an existing network of clients Basic understanding of the logistics industry and supply chain Experience in achieving new business targets set Tender Management Maintain and grow existing customer base Signing up New Accounts and growing business Experience with implementation of strategic accounts Competencies The ideal candidates should be detail orientated, have good planning skills and must be able to handle pressure. Incumbent should portray high level of skills in areas of business development, sales, attention to detail, ability to empower people and must be customer focused. The successful incumbent must possess exceptional professional conduct & appearance.
