The Specialist Solutions Risk Manager will support the Head of ERM to monitor the overall risk profile of Santam Specialist Solutions, by enabling the identification of emerging risks in daily operation of the business. This will be achieved by providing oversight in the form of frameworks, policies, tools, and techniques to support appropriate risk management and control in the first line. Appropriate challenge is required to ensure that management has implemented the control framework appropriately, and that it operates effectively. This role will be based in Johannesburg. What will make you successful in this role?Assist Santam Specialist Solutions business units in embedding a risk management process to identify, mitigate, monitor, report and escalate key strategic and operational risks within the parameters of the Boards risk appetite.Support the Head of ERM in monitoring Santam Specialist Solutions risk profile to ensure that key risks are managed, relevant action taken, and adequate controls have been implemented by management.Overall coordination and aggregation of all key risks within Santam Specialist Solutions for Risk Committee reporting purposes in order to provide a summary and overview of Santam Specialist Solutions key risks.Perform sample testing, as required, to test the assertion of management on key risks/controls/processes.Developing risk indicators to pro-actively identify risks and/or to act as early warning signs of events that may occur or risks that are not managed within predefined thresholds.Obtain a good understanding of the external and internal business environment, including strategic and operational goals in order to evaluate and identify any new and emerging risksObtain and aggregate loss events occurring throughout the Santam group.Manage and implement Risk Management Software and ensure alignment with the Sanlam Group Framework. This includes the full cycle of development and customisation, maintenance, testing, implementation, configuration, rollout and enhancement of the ERM software in support of the ERM function. A key success factor will be the design and implementation of reporting to ensure aggregation and integration.Qualification and ExperienceBusiness and/or Risk Management degree 5 years Risk Management experience SkillsStrong leadership skills and the ability to influence outcomes.Ability to drive deliverables by working through and across teams.Self-motivated self-starter.Strong underwriting knowledge, to enable appropriate challenge and guidance of the first line.Advanced computer skills (Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint)Strong presentation and facilitation skillsExcellent relationship-building skills at all levels of managementAnalytical skills, numerical/statistical skillsEvaluation and data collection skillsNegotiating and influencingStrategic thinkingCore Competencies Cultivates innovation - Contributing through others
