People drive our business, so it follows that we want to recruit the best people possible whether they work for us permanently or for a short time as temporary employees.Job DescriptionThe position will have full accountability for the risk survey evaluation and underwriting of all very large Commercial Property policies with exposures greater than R250m at every stage of the policy lifecycle i.e. from quote stage to amendments to renewal of these policies and will therefore require a certain level of discretion to be considered and applied. The incumbent will be expected to know these policies intimately and be able to discuss details directly with brokers, giving advice where required and suggesting solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesConducting desktop assessment according to retention class and exposureIdentify hazards and risk exposures at the premises and to advise of risk improvement requirementsReview survey reports provided from internal and external stakeholders to assess the risk and to provide risk reduction requirements or alternative risk management measures for the risk.Review surveys & QA of completed survey reportsAssist Underwriters in risk selection and retention by providing loss control expertiseTechnical support to underwriters and technical managersRead and interpret the survey report requirements and prepare RRR letters for brokers incl. handling RRR negotiations under the guidance of the relevant Technical ManagerQualifications and ExperienceMatric and ideally Fire Service Qualification, Technical Engineering Degree or Diploma, or relevant qualification, Minimum NQF level 4Valid driver's licenceCompetency at previous level and proven competence at risk surveying, with experience in retention class and exposure stipulated above.FPA advanced courses, risk prevention strategies, technical training for related risks - entry level Prive', high hazard risks, thatch.Underwriting training modules/product trainingRIA ModulesGoogle Earth & Maps analysisFPA Advanced firefighting and loss prevention etc.Ability to work with all relevant SANS and firefighting codes / standards levelsSkillsCommunication and understanding of Basic & Advanced fire hazards, firefighting, risk identification etc.Ability to cope with conflicting demands and to prioritize tasksAppreciation of surveying and underwriting principlesNumerical skillsInformation seeking i.e. likes to get to the bottom of thingsCommercial and profit drivenExecution and deadline orientedGood communication skills (verbal and written)Keen attention to detailTeamwork and cooperationFlexibilityExcellent interpersonal, communication and networking skillsStrong client service orientationAbility to work under pressureSelf-confidenceProblem solvingBuild a successful career with usWe're all about building strong, lasting relationships with our employees.
