Title: Risk and Compliance Officer Our client, based in Hermanus, is looking to hire an Risk and Compliance Officer to join their company, in the financial industry , as soon as possible.
Job Summary: This role focuses on overseeing and managing compliance and risk activities within the organization.
The individual will be responsible for monitoring, implementing, and maintaining compliance frameworks, assessing and managing risks, and providing guidance on exchange control practices.
The role requires ongoing internal investigations, audits, policy development, and reporting to regulatory agencies, with a focus on ensuring compliance with financial services legislation, the Protection of Personal Information (PoPI) Act, and other relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Compliance Management : Provide training and guidance on compliance matters (e.g., FICA, FAIS, PoPI, etc.).
Conduct internal investigations and audits, reporting findings to ensure compliance with regulations.
Develop, review, and update policies and procedures.
Prepare compliance reports for regulatory agencies and internal management.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies for compliance reviews.
Implement corrective actions and improvements based on audit findings.
Manage compliance documentation and report to the Boards Audit & Risk Committee.
Risk Management : Maintain and update the organizations risk management framework.
Identify, assess, and report on internal and external risks, including regulatory changes and trends.
Conduct risk audits and monitor risk registers.
Provide risk training and ensure appropriate risk controls are in place.
Report on incidents and high-risk activities, preparing reports for the Audit & Risk Committee.
Desired Skills & Qualifications : A degree in commerce (preferred).
Membership with the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (preferred).
At least 5 years of experience in risk and compliance management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills (English & Afrikaans).
Ability to influence change, manage projects, and deliver clear, concise reports.
Proven organizational, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes.
Overall, the role combines compliance oversight with proactive risk management, requiring a balance of regulatory expertise, internal audit skills, and effective communication with stakeholders.
Area: Hermanus, Western Cape.
Salary: R 47 000 - R75 000 CTC per month, negotiable and depending on experience.
