Minimum Requirements & Experience:- Grade 12 (Matric)- Rigger Trade Certificate- N2 Engineering Certificate- 2 Years practical Trade Specific experience in a heavy industrial / mining / plant environment.- A valid Occupational Health Certificate of Fitness- Code 08 (EB) Drivers License and own reliable transport.Duties:Ensure rigging platforms and working environment are always clean.
Assist in ensuring the workshop's operational functioning.
Coordinate how the crew will communicate prior to loading.
Use verbal and nonverbal communication to move load (hand signals and radios).
Always acknowledge that commands have been received and understood.
The crew will be briefed and educated on the terminology and use of equipment prior to handling.
Arrange to raise and lower safely all types of materials, machine and/or equipment to and from working platforms, trucks, floors and other levels in structure or vessels.
Safely signal crane operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of the workers and materials.
Rig all types of working platform, swing scaffolds and bosun chairs.
Use jack rollers and skids in the moving of heavy equipment and structural members and pipes.
Splice wire ropes, splice, and ties knots on fibre ropes.
Inspect and test all types of rigging equipment and tackle such as fibre ropes, wire ropes, chains, and chain blocks.
Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements to complete tasks.
Complete the necessary job cards relating to the task done including and description of work and spares used.
Conduct mini risk assessment and lock-out procedure in own area of work and within span of control.
Conduct inspections.
Maintains the machinery/tools and equipment to standard.
Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules of tools and equipment are accurately complied with.
Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications.
Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed.
Complete and sign off all allocated planned inspection.
Co-ordinate maintenance activities with the supervisor, to ensure that the operation is not affected, or alternative plans need to be prepared.
